We had the most incredible time photographing James + Shannon’s engagement session!! Wilson the Corgi stole the spotlight a little! 🙂 We can’t wait for their wedding next year!

How gorgeous are Christa and Tyler’s fall engagement photos?! Fall is the prettiest time of year for photos!!
“Kevin and Emily met in Cedar Falls shortly after they both graduated from UNI. Kevin decided to make it official on April 25, 2018 when he planned the surprise of a lifetime during a fire drill at Emily’s school in Perry with some of her coworkers. The fire alarm went off and Emily rushed her kids out of the school where a fire truck pulled up with the sirens blaring. Two firemen hopped off in full uniform (it was not a cold day by any means) and one walked over to Emily. She couldn’t tell who it was at first, but Kevin pulled off his helmet and got right down on one knee!! To say Emily was shocked would be a huge understatement! She was so excited she took the ring right from the box without letting Kevin put it on her! The whole school helped them celebrate with some students even holding signs that said, “Emily, will you marry me?” Of course, the answer was YES!”

“The thing I love most about Kevin is how he makes me feel each and every day. I always feel loved, safe, and supported when I am with him. He puts the biggest smile on my face and looks at me as if I’m the most amazing person he has ever met. He challenges me to become a better version of myself through his extraordinary passion and determination for all he does. “March 1st, 2018. Brandon had planned a steak dinner at our home; however, we never ate that steak dinner. Instead, we went on a walk to Brandon’s parents and had dinner at a mexican restaurant with his mom and dad. When we got home, Erika was surprised with a bouquet of flowers that the florist had dropped off while we were on our walk and Brandon went down on one knee and confessed his love.”

“Our lives are typically going a million miles a minute and in a lot of different directions, so whenever we actually get a chance to spend quality time together, we honestly just enjoy relaxing at home on the couch or out on the deck with our dogs. It also usually involves a Papa Johns pizza, bread sticks and an assortment of ice cream or donuts.”
“We are a Tinder success story. But what’s funny is not many people know that’s the real story. For obvious reasons, we weren’t always forthcoming with the Tinder detail. We’d typically say we simply met “online” or through friends depending on who asked. That said, it has slowly leaked out over time, and now we certainly don’t care, because swiping right was the best decision we ever made.”
“Adam proposed on June 1st at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens outside of Nashville, TN. He planned out every last detail from the exact location within the gardens to making sure someone was there to capture the moment on video. I was completely surprised and had absolutely no idea he had been planning it for months. It actually shocks me that he kept it a secret from me for so long! Everything about our proposal was perfect, and I’ll forever cherish those moments standing together on the garden’s Wisteria Arbor.”
“As cliche as it sounds, Adam is truly my knight in shining armor. From day one, he has proven to be the perfect caretaker and partner in life. If I have a problem, he knows how to fix it. If I don’t know how to do something, he shows me how. If I ever need something, he will do most anything to make sure I get it. He’s my biggest supporter, and I couldn’t be more lucky to venture through life with him by my side.”
“I love how smart, beautiful, compassionate and hard-working Amy is. I love knowing I can trust she will be by my side through thick and thin. I appreciate how much she has always loved and accepted both me and my family without reservation. Amy is much more than my best-friend, she is my everything. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her. She’s irreplaceable.”

“Our favorite part about the session was how great Mandy directed the shots. We truly appreciated how she took the time to scope out locations ahead of time and came to the session with a plan. She was great at telling us how to position ourselves and always made sure my ring, hair and our outfits were perfectly placed. We also love that she remembered to bring a squeaky toy for the photos with our dogs. That worked perfectly!”
Palisades-Kepler State Park in Mount Vernon was the perfect location for Ellie + Josh’s engagement session! Grayson even made an appearance in some of the photos! Tell me he isn’t the most handsome little guy you’ve ever seen!! Ellie + Josh are getting married on September 15th at St. Joseph Church in Elkader, with a reception following at the Old School Celebrations. Elkader is a beautiful town and Kim is so excited to photograph their wedding!!

Jacque and Zach are getting married on May 26th at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Cascade, with a reception following at the New Vienna Community Hall. Their wedding will feature black suits, victorian lilac and wisteria purple with silver accents. It’s going to be absolutely beautiful!
What is your vision for your wedding photography?
“I am hoping for a laid back/nonstressful day. I would like lots of pictures. Some of my favorite pictures to look at are ones that are not planned/informal; I feel like these pictures really capture people’s personality and the true spirit of the day. I would call our day more traditional themed.” -Jacque
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
“I am excited for the entire day. Zach has even expressed to me how he can’t wait for the wedding. We can’t wait to be with all of our family and friends. We have lots of family traveling from across the country to come to the wedding. We also do not get to see our friends as often as we did once upon a time due to children now being in the picture for many of them, so in addition they will all be there.” -Jacque
“Zach proposed June 17th. We had decided not to do gifts for the year but instead do a mini-trip to spend time together. We decided to go to the Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert in Moline. Zach proposed after we had checked into the hotel just before leaving to grab dinner and drinks before the concert.”
